2026 buyer guide · Custom Branding Agency
What Should You Ask a Branding Agency Before Hiring?
The right questions help you compare process and risk, not just visual style.
Ask about scope and process
What discovery is included? Who creates the work? How many review stages are planned? What is considered a revision versus new scope?
Ask about files and ownership
Which source files and exports are included? When do rights transfer? Are stock assets, fonts or templates subject to separate licenses?
Ask about project management
Who is the day-to-day contact? How are approvals documented? What inputs are required from your team, and what happens if content or feedback is late?
Ask for relevant—not just attractive—work
Look for projects with similar business constraints, audience or deliverables. A beautiful portfolio is useful, but relevance and process tell you more about fit.
Quick answers
What should be in the written proposal?
At minimum: objectives, deliverables, responsibilities, schedule, fees/payment milestones, revision rules, ownership/licensing and how scope changes are approved.
Should I choose the cheapest quote?
Not automatically. Compare what is actually included, the quality and relevance of the work, communication, risk, ownership terms and the likely cost of missing deliverables or rework.
